Bachelor's Beach - Klein Bonaire

Bachelor’s Beach is one of those Klein Bonaire sites we return to often, a dependable drift in either direction depending on the whims of the current. It’s a great spot for a shallow second dive, or even a relaxed first dive if you’re looking for something gentle. We always drop in around the small sandy patch you can see from the surface, then decide our direction. The reef here is classic Bonaire, a gentle slope alive with hard corals. Keep an eye out for Modest Triphora, its delicate branches seeming to pulse in the gentle surge. We’ve had some fantastic encounters with Hawksbill Turtles here, often just cruising over the sandy channels. For the macro enthusiasts, the crags and crevices are worth a slow peek. We’ve spotted Banded Basslets darting into the shade and the iridescent shimmer of Cherub Pygmy Angelfish. Our favourite trick is to look for the tiny, almost invisible Cleaver Wrasse, a real treat if you can spot it sifting through the sand. It’s a lovely site for photographers, the light playing beautifully over the corals and the sheer numbers of French Grunts often schooling in the shallows.
