Bisé Morto - Klein Bonaire

Bisé Morto, over on Klein Bonaire, is one of those sites we always gravitate towards when we just want a relaxed, beautiful dive. It’s usually a gentle drift, letting you glide along the reef slope and just soak it all in. We love how the reef here transitions from a lush shallow plateau of yellow pencil coral and lettuce coral down to a deeper wall. Keep an eye out for the small stuff, like the electric blue flash of a Cherub Pygmy Angelfish darting into a crevice, or the subtle shimmer of Fairy Basslets dancing over the coral heads. The Boulder Brain Coral formations here are particularly impressive, huge undulating mounds that feel ancient. We’ve often found Green Turtles casually munching on the shallower sections, completely unbothered by our presence. The grunts – Spanish, French, and Bluestriped – hang out in their usual shoals, but we’ve also spotted schools of Herring, which are always a treat. For photographers, the light here can be fantastic in the mornings, really bringing out the colour in the Lamarck’s sheet coral. It’s a superb dive for anyone looking for a consistently pretty, unhurried experience.
