Reef Scientifico - Klein Bonaire

Reef Scientifico, off Klein Bonaire, is a real favourite of ours, especially if you’re into the smaller stuff. It’s got a sandy bottom, broken up with patches of manatee grass and scattered coral heads, not a wall or a dramatic drop, but that’s its charm. We love drifting over the grass beds, spotting the tiny Pearl Blennies popping out of their holes, or watching the Dark Green Parrotfish grazing. Look closely among the finger and mustard hill corals, and you’ll often find the shy Banded Basslet peeking out. The lack of strong current here means you can really slow down, take your time, and appreciate the little things – the delicate Antilles Glass-slugs or the Yellowline Arrow Crabs waving their claws. It’s a site that rewards patience, perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to escape the usual reef traffic.
