White Slave - Klein Bonaire

White Slave is one of those Klein Bonaire sites that often gets overlooked for its more famous neighbours, and that’s a shame. It’s got that classic Bonaire slope, starting shallow and just easing down to about 30 metres, but it holds a real charm of its own. We love drifting along here, especially if we can time it for mid-morning when the light really plays through the coral formations. Look closely in the nooks and crannies for the smaller stuff – we’ve spotted Apricot Bass and the tiny, darting Island Frillfins more than once. The Yellowhead Wrasses are everywhere, busy turning over sand, and you might even catch a Hawksbill Turtle munching on the sponge. The reef itself has some decent healthy patches of Fire Coral, mixed in with the usual brain and star corals, creating good habitat. We find White Slave particularly good for macro photography. That Mouse Cone or Lightning Pitar won't be out in the open on a high current site. It’s a gentle dive, generally low current, making it ideal for anyone looking to relax and really explore the reef with a keen eye. Think of it as a quiet contemplative dive, perfect for a second tank when you’ve already been pushed around a bit elsewhere.
