Pica Rocca - Bayahibe & La Romana

Sèche Croissant is a standout for us in Prony Bay, especially when you’re looking for something gentle. It’s a shallow coral garden, topping out at 9 metres, which makes it perfect for a long, relaxed dive or even a snorkel if the mood strikes. We’ve spent hours here, just drifting over the coral bommies, watching the Pacific half-and-half chromis dart in and out of the staghorn. The current is usually non-existent, so it’s wonderfully calm. We especially love this spot for a night dive. As the sun sets, the reef transforms. Those big-headed turtles aren't always on the beach, but we’ve seen them settled into crevices here on the reef. The blennies peek out from their holes, and the banded tobies are often snoozing on coral branches. Keep an eye out for crocodile fish blending perfectly with the sand, their eyes watching you carefully. The bear paw clams here are some of the biggest we’ve seen, their mantles a vibrant blue-green. Visibility averages around 13 metres, which is decent for a lagoon site. It’s a calm, easy dive, full of small discoveries, making it ideal for photographers or anyone who just wants to take their time.
