Tortuga - Bayahibe & La Romana

The Sound of Mull isn't just a dive site, it's a cold-water treasure chest. We love it because it’s a living history museum, filled with wrecks that truly feel like part of the seabed. Forget those sterile, picked-over wrecks; here, the ships are draped in jewel anemones and light-bulb sea squirts, making them glow with colour even under the typically grey Scottish skies. Our favourite wreck has to be the SS Hispania. Descending onto her, you can almost hear the creak of her timbers. She lies upright, perfectly preserved, with the bow giving way to a cavernous hold now home to countless butterfish and transparent gobies darting in and out of the shadows. Visibility, especially in late spring, can push past 15 metres, which is incredible for Scotland, allowing you to really take in the scale. It's a proper adventure for divers who appreciate the character of a good old ship and don't mind a bit of a chill; thick drysuits are definitely the order of the day.
