Mabouya Garden, Carriacou - Carriacou
Palung Palung really stands out for us on the Lombok side, especially if you’re looking for something a bit different than the Gili T circus. It’s essentially an extension of the Drop-off, a wall that runs deep, maxing out around 24m. We love it for the macro life here; it’s not always about the big stuff, is it? Keep your eyes peeled for those Eye-spotted Eubranchus, tiny pops of colour against the coral. We've also spotted more than a few Freckled Anglerfish lurking, perfectly camouflaged. The visibility averages 17m, which is decent, but it's the sheer density of small creatures that keeps us coming back. You’ll find walls covered in Table and Staghorn corals, creating perfect hiding spots for Pudgy and Shimada's Pygmygobies. It’s a site that rewards a slow, patient dive – don't rush it. We’d suggest a morning dive, before any potential boat traffic picks up, to really appreciate the quieter moments with the reef. If you're into nudibranchs and finding the little guys, this is absolutely your kind of place.
