Rock Garden, Carriacou - Carriacou

Tabyanas often gets overshadowed by some of Roatán’s flashier sites, but we think that’s a mistake. This place, sometimes called Herbie's Fantasy, is a really mellow wall dive, dropping to around 19 meters, perfect for those long, relaxed bottom times. What we love about Tabyanas isn't the big pelagics, it’s the sheer density of the small stuff. You can spend an entire dive in just a small section of the wall, peering into every crevice. We’ve found Peppermint Bass tucked away, and the Chalk Bass are everywhere, flitting in and out of the coral. Keep an eye out for the Spotlight Gobies – they’re tiny but captivating. We’ve even spotted the elusive Conchfish here, a genuine treat. The visibility is usually excellent, often 20 meters or more, making the details really pop. We’d suggest going early in the morning before it gets busy, that's when the garden eels are most active, swaying gently from the sand patch just off the wall. It’s a site for divers who appreciate slowing down and discovering the smaller wonders, rather than racing from one thing to the next.
