Sisters Rocks - Carriacou

Sisters Rocks feels like a secret handshake, even though it's hardly unknown. Two jagged volcanic pinnacles pierce the surface, but the real show is below. We love dropping down into the natural channels and swim-throughs carved by centuries of surge. It’s a proper intermediate dive, not too deep, generally 8-25 metres, but you'll want to be comfortable with a bit of current. Down in the crevices, you'll find French grunts packed so tight they shimmer like a silver wall, and the bolder threespot damselfish dart out from every crevice. Keep an eye out for mottled jawfish bobbing in their sandy burrows, often with tiny eggs in their mouths – a really neat find. Our favourite part has to be the feeling of the light filtering through the overhead rock formations, especially on a sunny morning; it paints the seafloor in shifting patterns. Nurse sharks often snooze in the sandy patches, unbothered, and we’ve had good luck spotting banded pipefish tucked into the gorgonians if you slow right down. It’s a site that rewards careful observation over rushing.
