Espace Plongee Martinique - Diamond Rock
The team at Espace Plongee Martinique are some of the most laid-back professionals you’ll meet in the Caribbean. We always appreciate a dive centre that keeps things simple: good boats, solid gear, and a genuine passion for their local sites. That’s Espace Plongee. They run a tight ship from Pointe du Bout, with a catamaran for groups and a smaller monohull for zippier trips, which is our favourite for beating the crowds to Diamond Rock. The real draw here, of course, is Diamond Rock itself. We’ve seen it countless times, but that first glimpse of the sheer cliff face, a jagged tooth punching out of the turquoise, still makes you grin. Below the surface, it’s a whole different world. Expect to drift past huge barrel sponges, their openings swaying gently, and keep an eye out for the resident barracuda patrolling the swim-throughs. The thermocline can hit you suddenly, a cool embrace as you descend, but it often brings in bigger pelagics. We’d suggest an early morning dive if you can swing it; the light filtering down into the grottos is absolutely magical and you often have the place to yourselves. They're a PADI 5 Star centre, so whether you're looking to get certified or just rack up some fun dives, they’ve got you covered with a refreshingly unfussy approach.
