The Scuba Shop - St. Kitts

We know the name 'The Scuba Shop' doesn't exactly scream high adventure, but don't let the practical moniker fool you. This spot, just offshore from the actual dive shop, is a fantastic second or third dive, especially if you’re keen on finding the small stuff. It’s mostly a gentle slope of sand and rubble, dotted with some surprisingly robust coral heads – we’ve seen some really impressive mustard hill and boulder brain corals here. The real draw for us is the macro life. The sandy patches are home to flounder, inshore lizardfish, and we’ve even spotted Pacific spotted scorpionfish hunkering down. Take your time around the turtlegrass beds; that’s where you’ll find those tiny mimic blennies peeking out of holes, and we’ve had good luck with dwarf wrasse darting around. It’s also a solid place for chain morays, often tucked into the smaller crevices. Our favourite find here has to be the ruby brittle stars, their delicate arms stretching out from under rocks. We’d suggest going slow, focusing your gaze, and you’ll be rewarded. It’s a lovely, relaxed dive for photographers or anyone who enjoys hunting for the less obvious residents of the reef.
