The Sisters - Tobago

The Sisters. Now this is a dive where you earn your lunch. Five rocky islets, just off Tobago’s northern coast, where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean, and it feels like it. You'll drop in, usually, and immediately feel the push of the current. It’s a drift, absolutely, but a lively one. We love that feeling of being propelled along, flying past the rocky outcrops. This isn't about lingering and poking into every crevice; it's about the sweep, the scale. We’ve had some truly exhilarating encounters here. Nurse sharks are a common sight, often tucked into the ledges, but it’s the potential for hammerheads that really brings us back. We’ve seen them, usually in the blue, just shadows at first, then unmistakable. Keep an eye out into the deeper water, especially off the south-westernmost islet. The visibility can be 20-25 metres on a good day, but it’s the movement that defines it. This is a site for advanced divers, no question. You need to be comfortable in strong currents and ready for a ride. The depths here drop quickly, 12 metres down to 40, so buoyancy control is key. It’s a rush, a proper open-ocean feel right there off the coast.
