Cayos Cochinos - Roatán

Getting out to Cayos Cochinos means committing to a bit of a journey from Roatán, but it’s a trip we’ve always found worthwhile. These protected reefs, part of a marine park, feel genuinely remote, sitting atop ancient underwater mountains. We’ve explored some lovely fringing reefs here, along with deep walls and those classic spur and groove formations. You’ll spot the usual Caribbean suspects, sure, but it’s the overall feeling of a healthier, less touched ecosystem that makes it special for us. Dive in the morning for the best light, and keep an eye out for larger pelagics moving through the deeper sections. It’s ideal for divers who appreciate a quiet, uncrowded dive and don't mind the travel time to get there.
