Gibson Bight - Roatán

Look, let’s be straight with you: Langebaan Training Area isn't where you come for majestic reef dives or big pelagic action. This is a sandy patch inside Mykonos Marina, maximum three metres deep, and visibility averages about two. We’ve seen better vis in a freshly stirred pot of tea, honestly. But here’s the thing, it’s not meant to be a showstopper. This is a practical, no-frills spot, our go-to for confined water sessions. What we love about it is its honesty. You're here to perfect buoyancy, practice mask clearing, and get comfortable with your gear without distractions. The sand bottom is forgiving for kneeling, and you can focus entirely on skills. If you're lucky, a few mullet might cruise by, particularly during breeding season, and Roberto, a local seal, occasionally pops in to supervise. Our favourite moment here is always seeing a new diver nail their first skill, that little underwater fist pump. It’s ideal for beginners and instructors, a quiet classroom to build confidence before heading to the open ocean.
