Hole In The Wall - Roatán

Lynch Blinder is one of those sites that always leaves you wanting more. Tucked away near the West Cardenal Buoy in Saldanha Bay, it’s not a deep dive, maxing out at about 12 meters, but don’t let that fool you. We love dropping in on the western side of the rock formation, where the kelp sways thick, almost like an underwater forest. Visibility here is often around 3 meters, which means you’re really diving into a world of intimate detail. Look closely amongst the kelp for nudibranchs, their colours surprisingly vivid against the greens and browns, and those spiny sea urchins are everywhere, often with a crayfish peeking out from beneath. The eastern side of the rock is where it really drops off, a sheer wall that feels much deeper than it is, even though it’s still only 12m. It’s a great spot for spotting bigger pelagics like tuna if you get lucky, but it's the smaller creatures that truly captivate us. We’ve had incredible encounters with bottlenose skates here, just gliding over the sandy patches. This site is very wind and tide dependent, so pick a calm day with minimal surge if you can. It's a fantastic dive for macro lovers and those who appreciate the subtle beauty of a temperate reef, rather than the flash of a tropical one.
