Little Bight - Roatán

Old Quarry Golf Course always puts a smile on our faces. We love how the reef here just spills over into a proper wall, dropping cleanly to about 23 meters. It’s got that classic Caribbean feel, a mix of hard corals clinging to the rock and then these bright splashes of sponge. When we’re down there, we’re often scanning for Goldspot Gobies perched on the sand patches, or watching the Threespot Damselfish aggressively guarding their little territories. It’s not about big pelagics here, though you might catch a flash of something in the blue if you’re lucky. For us, it’s all about the details: the way the Yellow Pencil Coral catches the light, the subtle colours of the Hamlet. We also make a point of keeping an eye out for Lionfish; they're present, and if you’re comfortable with a spear, this is a good spot to do some conservation. Boat access is pretty much essential here, usually a short hop from Spanish Water. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light on the wall is particularly good then, really making the colours pop. Visibility is typically fantastic, often 25 meters or more, so you get these long, clear views along the reef. It’s a comfortable dive, not too deep, and without any tricky currents usually, which makes it perfect for a relaxed exploration.
