Mary’s Place - Roatán

The Phoenix wreck is one of our favourites in Fernando de Noronha, mainly because it’s a tugboat that still feels like a tugboat, even after all these years at 28 metres. We love that you can clearly make out the bridge, the funnel, even the rudder. It’s sitting upright, which always makes for a more immersive dive, letting you truly picture it underway. Inside, the command room is still there, a fascinating glimpse into its past life. Vis is usually around 20 metres, so you get a good, clear view of the structure itself. For marine life, expect plenty of King Mullet nosing around the edges and schools of Caribbean Moonfish shimmering over the deck. We’ve seen the occasional Bonnethead shark patrolling the sandy bottom nearby, too. It’s a comfortable dive for anyone with a bit of wreck experience, perfect for exploring a well-preserved piece of maritime history.
