Jakes Place - Corn Islands

Maracaibo is usually our last dive of a south Cozumel trip, and it never disappoints. It’s a proper deep wall, falling away beneath you, feeling much more remote than some of the busier northern sites. We love the drift here; you just glide along with the current, spotting giant barrel sponges and massive gorgonians clinging to the sheer face. Keep an eye out into the blue for the big stuff – we've seen bull sharks cruising by, and eagle rays often make an appearance in groups. The famous arch is impressive, a massive swim-through, but it’s the overall scale of the place that really gets us. We’d suggest this one for advanced divers comfortable with depth and current, ready for a proper Caribbean wall dive.
