Bats Reef - Kadavu & Great Astrolabe Reef

Bats Reef, off Kadavu, is a really mellow introduction to the Fijian underwater world. It’s a shallow spot, topping out at 18 meters, which makes it ideal for newer divers or those who just want a relaxed poke around. We’ve spent some lovely easy afternoons drifting along here, spotting reef sharks cruising over the sand patches and those big, shaggy barrel sponges that seem to be everywhere in Kadavu. Look out for the resident batfish schools, they’re usually hanging out in the sheltered parts of the reef.
