Dua Dua Beach Resort - Kadavu & Great Astrolabe Reef
The team at Dua Dua Beach Resort are some of our favourite people in Fiji. They really embody that laid-back island vibe while still running a tight ship when it comes to diving. We love that they keep things small, making for a personal experience you just don't get at bigger operations. It’s perfect for divers who want to unplug completely and really connect with the reef and the local community. Their location on Kadavu puts you right on the doorstep of the Great Astrolabe Reef, and it feels like you have it all to yourself. We've spent mornings here watching manta rays glide past the boat, sometimes so close you feel the displacement of water. The hard coral formations around the outer reef are spectacular, enormous plate corals stretching out like underwater dinner tables. We usually suggest an early start for the best visibility, before the thermoclines really kick in, though even then, the water stays beautifully clear. Keep an eye out for grey reef sharks patrolling the deeper channels, especially at sites like Naiqoro Passage. Afterwards, it’s always a treat to head back to Dua Dua, sand between your toes, and swap stories over a cold Fiji Gold. They’re PADI certified, so it’s a good spot if you’re looking to get qualified or advance your skills in a relaxed setting.
