Mahara motu
Why dive here
With 140+ marine species recorded in the area - including dolphins, eagle rays, humpback whales, manta rays and mobula rays (devil rays) - Mahara motu offers some of Bora Bora's richest diving. Water ranges 27-29°C, warmest February, March, April.
Mahara motu offers a straightforward drift dive along a sandy bottom, broken up by coral bommies. We typically find several species of reef sharks cruising through, often blacktips and greys, alongside schools of snapper. It’s a good easy dive for newer divers looking to experience Bora Bora’s signature shark action without strong currents. Expect decent visibility, making it easy to spot activity from a distance.
