Fumitsuki Maru - Chuuk (Truk) Lagoon

The Fumitsuki Maru is a brilliant Chuuk dive, not because it’s a colossal freighter, but because it’s a destroyer. Wrecks this size often get overlooked, but this one is a joy to navigate. We always start our dive at the stern, where the prop is still intact, a great photo opportunity before you descend into the main hull. The forward torpedo tubes are a real highlight, sitting there, frozen in time, exactly as they were when she went down. Inside, the engine room is accessible, a tight squeeze for some, but worth the effort to see the gauges and controls still largely in place. On the bow, the main gun is pointed skyward, a stark reminder of her purpose. We love seeing the fusiliers school around the mast, catching the light as they dart about. It’s a shallower wreck compared to some of the lagoon's deeper giants, which means more bottom time to soak it all in. This is a fantastic dive for anyone who appreciates a well-preserved, compact wreck you can truly explore from end to end.
