Rio de Janiero Maru - Chuuk (Truk) Lagoon
The *Rio de Janeiro Maru* is a big one, a passenger cargo ship lying on its starboard side, making for some interesting swim-throughs. Descending onto the hull, you'll find the deck now facing downwards, which can be a little disorienting at first. We always enjoy poking around the cargo holds; they’re pretty open and often filled with ceramic sake bottles or piles of coal, giving you a real sense of its former life. Keep an eye out for the resident reef sharks that cruise past, and the barracuda often hang motionless in the blue. It’s a solid dive, good for those who like to take their time exploring a large wreck without too many tight squeezes.
