Miil Channel
Why dive here
With 297+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, blacktip reef sharks, giant moray eels, grey reef sharks and seahorses - Miil Channel offers some of Yap's richest drift diving. Water ranges 29-30°C, warmest June, July, October.
Miil Channel is one of Yap's signature drift dives, a conveyor belt for pelagic action. We often see reef sharks patrolling the channel mouth, along with barracuda and jacks schooling in the stronger currents. It's a dive best suited for experienced divers comfortable with drifts and down currents. For those up to the challenge, it's a raw, exhilarating slice of Yap's big animal encounters.
Safety Notes
Drift dive - carry a surface marker buoy (SMB) and stay with your group. Brief the current direction before entry.
