YAMAZUKI MARU (POSSIBLY) - Iron Bottom Sound

The *Yamazuki Maru*, or what we believe is her, in Iron Bottom Sound, is a shallow wreck with a profound story. Lying at just 10 meters, it's a site that feels incredibly accessible, yet still holds that distinct Solomon Islands mystique. We love the way the light filters down, illuminating sections of the hull, and the sheer scale of the vessel at this depth is impressive. What you'll experience here is a true piece of wartime history, tangled beautifully with new life. The bow section is particularly intact; you can still make out the anchor chains and parts of the superstructure. Visibility can vary, but on a good day, the outline of the 132-meter hull seems to stretch into the blue. Schools of yellowfin goatfish hang out in the shadows, and we've often seen substantial barracuda cruising past. It's an ideal dive for those who appreciate wreck diving without the pressure of deep profiles, offering ample time to explore and connect with the past.
