Ishigaki double reef - Ishigaki & Yaeyama

Hayes Rock, tucked away in Alaska’s coastal waters, offers a taste of cold-water diving that’s different from your usual tropical fare. The site’s rocky reef makes for interesting topography, with plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. We’ve spotted Big Skates gliding along the bottom and the unmistakable silhouette of Spiny Dogfish patrolling the kelp. Above the surface, it’s a birdwatcher’s dream, with Bald Eagles often circling and various gulls like the Glaucous-winged and Bonaparte’s making their presence known. It’s a site best suited for divers who appreciate the unique beauty of temperate waters and don't mind a chill.
