Kohamajima Island - Ishigaki & Yaeyama

Kohamajima Island is a decent choice for an easy afternoon dive, especially if you’re fresh off the boat. The depth stays around 18 metres, making it really comfortable for newer divers or those who just want to cruise without worrying about deco. What we’ve seen here are some of the smaller reef dwellers: nudibranchs working their way along the corals, plenty of clownfish darting in and out of anemones, and sometimes a shy cuttlefish if you have a keen eye. It’s a site that rewards a slow pace, letting you really look into the nooks and crannies. We often suggest it as a second dive after something a bit more active, or as a gentle introduction to the Yaeyama islands.
