Middle Book is one of those sites that just feels… good. It’s a solid dive, a perennial favourite when the weather’s playing nice and we’re looking for a relaxed drift. We often find the visibility here can stretch to a comfortable 20-25 metres, sometimes even more, making for effortless cruising over the varied coral structures. What makes Middle Book special, for us, is the sheer density of coral, particularly the big, established colonies of honeycomb and staghorn. You’re not just seeing scattered patches; it’s a proper landscape of hard corals. Keep an eye out for the bluespotted shrimpgobies. They’re usually easy to spot near their burrows, watching you with a kind of resigned curiosity. We’ve also had some fantastic encounters with Humphead wrasse here, lumbering past with that distinctive brow. While not a guaranteed manta spot, Middle Book occasionally delivers a fly-by, especially when the currents are bringing in the good stuff. It’s a site that rewards slow exploration rather than a frantic dash, perfect for photographers or anyone who just wants to soak it all in.
