With 428+ marine species recorded in the area - including bull sharks, manta rays, mobula rays (devil rays), seahorses and sea turtles - Sakieda Maze offers some of Ishigaki & Yaeyama's richest cave diving. Water ranges 23-30°C, warmest July, August, September.
Sakieda Maze is one of those spots that just feels good, even on a day when the deeper reefs are a bit bouncy. Dropping down to a shallow 16 meters, you're immediately enveloped in a labyrinth of tunnels and swim-throughs, all bathed in this incredible filtered light. It’s a bit like an underwater cathedral, honestly. We’ve found ourselves just hovering, watching the light play on the walls, with the occasional school of glassfish shimmering past. It's a proper beginner-friendly cave dive, no tricky navigation, just pure exploration. Ideal for an easy second dive or for getting comfortable with overhead environments.
