With 428+ marine species recorded in the area - including bull sharks, manta rays, mobula rays (devil rays), seahorses and sea turtles - Sukuji Gurukun Rock offers some of Ishigaki & Yaeyama's richest pinnacle diving. Water ranges 23-30°C, warmest July, August, September.
Sukuji Gurukun Rock is one of those spots where we’ve often found ourselves looking up, mesmerized by the sheer number of fusiliers. It’s a rocky site, topping out at 22 metres, which gives you plenty of bottom time to drift and watch the show. The name itself, "gurukun," refers to the local common fusilier, and they gather here in such dense schools that they often obscure the light from above. It’s an intermediate dive, straightforward enough for those comfortable with a bit of current, making it a solid choice for a relaxing afternoon drift with a stunning natural display.
