With 428+ marine species recorded in the area - including bull sharks, manta rays, mobula rays (devil rays), seahorses and sea turtles - Yonehara Reef offers some of Ishigaki & Yaeyama's richest reef diving. Water ranges 23-30°C, warmest July, August, September.
Yonehara Reef is a good, easy dive for beginners. The reef itself is shallow, topping out at 16 meters, and often has very little current. We usually see plenty of anemonefish, wrasse, and parrotfish picking through the corals. It’s a solid spot for a relaxed second dive or a check-out dive, especially if you’re new to the area.
