Aqua Ventures - Watamu & Malindi
The team at Aqua Ventures in Watamu and Malindi have been part of the Kenyan dive scene for what feels like forever. Seriously, since '89. This isn't just a business for them, it's a family passion, and you feel that personal touch from the moment you step onto their boat. We love how they run things – relaxed, friendly, but incredibly professional, and they know these reefs like the back of their hand. Their specialty is really making you feel at home, whether you're taking your first fin kicks or you're a seasoned explorer. For newer divers, we think they're fantastic; patient instructors who genuinely enjoy seeing you progress. For those with a few logs in their book, ask them about the deeper pinnacles or the quieter channels where the big trevallies often cruise. They're PADI 5 Star, so you know the training is solid, but it's that genuine enthusiasm for the ocean that really sets them apart. We'd suggest asking them about early morning dives, especially if you want to catch the reef waking up, before the heat of the day settles in and the tourist boats arrive. That's our favourite time to be out there with them.
