Rosado - Nosy Be

Rosado is one of those sites we always recommend to divers heading to Nosy Be. It’s not just the sheer number of species, though recording over 400 is impressive. What makes Rosado special is how lively the reef feels. We've seen schools of fusiliers here so thick they genuinely block out the sun for a moment, shifting like a single organism. The coral gardens are extensive, with a real dominance of staghorn corals, but look closer and you’ll find those intricate branched sandpaper corals and honeycomb corals too. We particularly love hunting for cowries tucked into crevices. The Snakehead Cowries are quite a find, but even the common ones are beautiful. Keep an eye out for Black Sea Cucumbers too, they’re surprisingly active. We find Rosado is best enjoyed as a drift dive, letting the gentle current carry you along the reef. It’s perfect for photographers who want to take their time and really soak it all in. We’d suggest going in the morning; the light seems to hit the corals just right then, really making the pinks and purples pop. It’s a site that rewards a slow pace.
