Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru - Baa Atoll
The team at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru are, simply put, exceptional. We often find that dive centres attached to luxury resorts can sometimes feel a bit… sterile, but this place genuinely hums with passion. They’re a PADI 5 Star Career Development Centre, which means their instructors are top-tier, whether you’re just starting with an Open Water course or pushing into technical territory. We’ve always been impressed by their commitment to conservation too; the resident marine biologists are always around, ready to chat about manta ray ID or coral propagation. What we really love is how personal the service feels. They keep group sizes small – often just two or three divers per guide – which means you get incredible bottom time and attention. Our favourite memory from there was an early morning dive at Hanifaru Bay (when it’s open and the mantas are feeding, of course) where we were the only boat. Seeing those giants barrel-rolling, scooping plankton, with barely another human in sight, was just magic. They’re brilliant at tailoring dives, too; if you’re obsessed with macro, they’ll find you the nudibranchs. If you want current and pelagics, they’ll put you on a channel dive at the optimal tide. We’d suggest going in the shoulder seasons, late May or early November, if you want to avoid the peak crowds but still hit good manta action. Just be prepared for the occasional rain shower.
