Kamadhoo Dive & Water Sports - Baa Atoll
The team at Kamadhoo Dive & Water Sports are exactly what we look for when exploring a new atoll. They’re based right on Kamadhoo island, which means you’re not dealing with long transfers or resort-style schedules. This outfit specialises in really getting to know the local Baa Atoll sites. If you’re serious about finding manta rays, especially during the southwest monsoon, this is your crew. We love that they focus on small groups, usually just two to four divers with a guide. It makes a huge difference at sites like Hanifaru Bay, where it can feel a bit like a free-for-all during peak manta season. Our favourite dives with them were definitely the channel dives, where the currents brought in plenty of reef sharks and schooling barracuda – the sheer volume of fish can be astounding. We’d suggest going early in the morning for those, before the day boats arrive. Their guides are fantastic at spotting the smaller stuff too, like ghost pipefish tucked into a patch of soft coral, or a well-camouflaged stonefish. They have that uncanny ability to point things out you’d absolutely swim right past. After a few days, it feels less like a dive centre and more like diving with a group of friends who happen to know all the best spots.
