Ocean Guardian Dive Centre - Baa Atoll
The team at Ocean Guardian Dive Centre, based out of the Soneva properties in Baa Atoll, really understands relaxed luxury diving. They're not about cattle boats or rushing from site to site. Instead, we’ve found their pace to be wonderfully unhurried, focusing on personal service that feels genuinely bespoke. If you're looking for an intimate dive experience where the crew knows your name and your fin preference, this is your spot. We love that they’re perfectly positioned for some truly epic diving, especially if you time it right for the manta season at Hanifaru Bay. Imagine dropping into that maelstrom of feeding mantas – the sheer volume of them can feel like a solid wall of cartilage and plankton. Beyond the big stuff, the local reefs here are deceptively good. We’ve had incredible luck spotting leaf fish camouflaged against sponges and even the occasional guitar shark cruising the sandy bottoms. Our favourite tip? Ask about their dawn dives; the light filtering through the water as the reef wakes up is something special, often revealing sharks still hunting. They run PADI courses, too, so it’s a great place to get certified or advance your skills with instructors who take their time.
