Splash Dive & Water Sports - Baa Atoll
The team at Splash Dive & Water Sports, based out of Vakkaru in Baa Atoll, really shines when it comes to personalised service. They’re a solid PADI 5 Star outfit, but it’s their low-key, attentive approach that we love, especially if you’re looking for a more relaxed pace than some of the bigger operations. We’d pick them for anyone wanting to combine a luxury resort stay with some fantastic diving without feeling like just another number. They’re particularly great for couples or smaller groups who appreciate a calm boat and thoughtful dive briefings. Baa Atoll itself is a pretty special place, and Splash knows how to make the most of it. We’ve had some cracking dives with them around Hanifaru Bay during manta season, though be warned, it can get busy. They also have access to some incredible thilas. Our favourite memory is a morning dive at Dhonfanu Thila, dropping in just after sunrise. The light filtering through the reef, painting the fusiliers in a thousand shades of blue and silver, was something else. You could almost feel the energy of the reef waking up. They're also excellent at finding smaller stuff, so keep an eye out for nudibranchs and flatworms tucked away in crevices. Just remember, currents can be swift here, so make sure you’re comfortable with drift dives.
