With 133+ marine species recorded in the area - including blacktip reef sharks, sea turtles, spinner dolphins and whale sharks - Kuramathi Caves offers some of North Ari Atoll's richest cave diving. Water ranges 29-31°C, warmest April, May, July.
Kuramathi Caves offers a laid-back dive, perfect for those new to overhead environments. We drop onto the reef at around 12 meters before exploring the shallow overhangs and small caves that give the site its name. Inside, expect to find nurse sharks dozing on the sandy bottom and schools of glassfish shimmering in the darker recesses. Keep an eye out for moray eels tucked into crevices. It’s a gentle introduction to cave diving, generally with mild currents and decent visibility, making it a good choice for newer divers or those looking for a relaxed afternoon experience.
