With 95+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, sea turtles, spinner dolphins and whale sharks - Lao Fu Thila offers some of North Malé Atoll's richest reef diving. Water ranges 29-31°C, warmest April, May, July.
Lao Fu Thila, in North Malé, offers a good drift dive when the currents are running. We’ve found the best approach is to hook in at about 20 meters and watch the show. You’ll usually see grey reef sharks patrolling the drop-offs and plenty of trevally hunting fusiliers. It’s a site that rewards patience, better for those comfortable in currents who don't mind a little exertion for good pelagic action.
