Aquafanatics - South Malé Atoll
The team at Aquafanatics, based out of Anantara Dhigu, Veli, and Naladhu Private Island, really understands the rhythm of South Malé. We’ve found they specialise in a relaxed, resort-based dive experience, perfect for couples or families where not everyone is diving every day. You'd choose them for their seamless operation and direct access to some cracking channel dives without the usual crowds. They're PADI 5-star, so the setup is slick, as you’d expect from a resort operation. What we really appreciate is their flexibility with schedules; it’s never a frantic rush. We’ve had some fantastic dives with their guides on Kandooma Thila – those grey reef sharks often cruise in the current, and seeing them line up against the blue is always a thrill. Another favourite is drifting along Guraidhoo Corner, past vibrant soft corals, keeping an eye out for eagle rays gliding by. Visibility here is typically excellent, often pushing 25-30 metres, particularly during the drier months. A tip from us: try to get on their first boat out in the morning; the channels are usually quieter, and the light is beautiful for photography. They know how to make a dive feel like a holiday, not a military exercise.
