Kei Sei 113 Wreck - Flic en Flac & West Coast

The Kei Sei 113 is our favourite wreck on Mauritius's west coast, a Japanese trawler intentionally sunk in the early 1980s. She sits upright at 34 metres, making this an intermediate dive, but currents are usually mild. We love dropping down the line onto the bridge, often blanketed in glassfish that part like a shimmering curtain as you approach. Inside, the wheelhouse is still largely intact, allowing for some tight swim-throughs if you're comfortable with overhead environments and good buoyancy. Look closely in the darker corners for giant long-finned eels, their heads poking out from pipes. Outside, the deck is completely covered in soft corals and sponges, a vibrant tapestry of orange, purple, and yellow. We've seen Desjardin's sailfin tangs picking at the growth, and black-barred razorfish darting into the sand next to the hull. Keep an eye out into the blue; the occasional blue marlin has been known to cruise by. This dive suits those who appreciate a wreck that has truly become a reef.
