The team at Odyssea are our go-to for diving the Bazaruto Archipelago. Based right in Vilanculos, they’re perfectly positioned to whisk you out to sites like Two Mile Reef, which we always find delivers something special. We love their approach, professional but always with a relaxed, friendly vibe that makes you feel instantly at home. This isn’t a high-volume operation, which means more personalized attention and usually smaller boat groups – a big plus when you’re hoping for an intimate encounter with a manta or a gentle whale shark. We’d suggest diving with them first thing in the morning to catch the best light and the most active reef life; the schools of fusiliers and snapper often seem thicker then. If you’re lucky enough to be there during humpback season, roughly June to November, ask them about combining a dive with some surface interval whale watching. They’re great at spotting breaches. Be prepared for a sometimes bouncy ride out, especially if the wind picks up, but the rewards are always worth it.
