Scorpion Rock Praslin - Inner Islands

The Cathedral near Port Vila is a proper dive, one we always try to fit in. You drop down, and it’s a fairly tight squeeze at first, following a thin passage into the rock. It feels a bit like you’re entering some ancient, submerged temple. Then it opens right up into this massive chamber, a real moment of 'wow'. On a calm day, the sun streams in from above, hitting the water just right, and you can even pop your head up into the air pocket at the end. It's cool, a bit eerie, but in a good way. Maximum depth here is around 23 meters, making it accessible for most certified divers. We’ve seen some decent nudibranchs tucked into the crevices, and keep an eye out for the smaller stuff like bridled gobies or black-headed leatherjackets along the walls. The real draw, though, is that feeling of discovery, moving from the narrow entry into that grand, sun-dappled space. It’s not about huge pelagics here; it's about the architecture of the reef and the light.
