FYND SWONA - Cape Town & Western Cape

The Fynd Swona wreck is right there, almost begging you to dive it, especially on those flat Cape Town days when the swell is playing nice. It’s a shallow dive, barely six metres, making it perfect for a long, relaxed exploration, or even for those just getting their fins wet with wreck diving. What we love about the Swona is how accessible she is, sitting upright and largely intact. You can spend ages poking around the superstructure, imagining her final moments. We’ve seen good-sized hottentot and strepies flitting through the old deck fittings, and often a shy octopus peeking from a dark corner. The light penetration is fantastic at this depth, painting the rusted metal in shifting blues and greens. Our tip: go at high tide. The visibility tends to be a bit better, and the entry, while never truly tricky, feels just that little bit smoother. It’s a site that rewards slow, methodical exploration rather than racing through. Take your time, really look at the details, and you’ll find plenty to appreciate.
