With 269+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, blue whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whales and great white sharks - Highfields offers some of Cape Town & Western Cape's richest reef diving. Water ranges 14-16°C, warmest February, March, April.
Highfields offers a good glimpse into the Cape's unique temperate reefs. Dropping from around 10m to 25m, you're navigating through dense kelp forests, which really are the defining feature here. Look closely among the rocky outcrops for shy pyjama sharks resting on the sand, or the occasional shy seven-gill cow shark cruising by. It’s a site that rewards a slow, deliberate dive, best suited for those comfortable finning through a bit of surge and looking for the smaller, often overlooked critters that thrive in the cold water.
