Why dive here
With 269+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, blue whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whales and great white sharks - SEA SERVICE offers some of Cape Town & Western Cape's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 14-16°C, warmest February, March, April.
Diving the Sea Service wreck always feels a bit somber, given its history. This launch vessel, which capsized and sank in '88, now rests at 27 meters just northwest of the Table Bay breakwater. What you find is a compact, defined wreck, still remarkably intact for its age. We've often found small octopus tucked into crevices and schools of hottentot darting around the superstructure. It's a dive best suited for those who appreciate wrecks with a story, offering a quiet exploration rather than a sprawling adventure.
