With 269+ marine species recorded in the area - including blue sharks, blue whales, dolphins, dwarf minke whales and great white sharks - SLIEDRECHT offers some of Cape Town & Western Cape's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 14-16°C, warmest February, March, April.
The Sliedrecht, a tanker that went down in 1953, offers an accessible wreck dive at just 7 meters. We often find the visibility here can be a bit of a mixed bag, but on a good day, the wreck reveals itself as a playground for a surprising amount of reef fish. You'll weave through the skeletal remains, noticing how soft corals and anemones have taken hold, transforming the rusty metal into a vibrant artificial reef. It's a shallow, easy dive, perfect for a relaxed afternoon exploring a piece of Cape Town's maritime history, especially if you're looking for something less demanding than some of our deeper wreck options.
