Blue Ocean Dive Resort - KwaZulu-Natal
The team at Blue Ocean Dive Resort truly understands the Aliwal Shoal experience. What we love about them is their sheer enthusiasm, the kind that makes you want to get out on the water even when the forecast is a bit grey. They’re PADI through and through, running a busy 5-Star IDC centre, which means the standards are high and the instructors are always current. If you're looking to go pro, or just fancy brushing up your skills with a fresh perspective, this is a solid choice. We've spent more than a few early mornings on their boats, heading out to Raggie's Cave or the Produce, and they handle the often-lively launch through the surf with practiced calm. It's a proper adventure just getting to the dive site. After the dive, rinsing gear feels less like a chore thanks to their well-organised wash-down areas. Our favourite time to dive with them is during raggy season, roughly May to November, when the sand tigers gather. It’s a sensory overload, the sharks circling lazily, their sandpaper skin almost brushing yours. They just get the vibe right here, making it easy to focus on the diving without any logistical headaches.
