9 Mile Coral Tree - Sodwana Bay

Castil Point offers a mellow dive, starting over a flat, sandy bottom that gives way to large rock formations, almost like a castle in ruins. Keep an eye out here for Blacktip Reef Sharks patrolling, and we’ve occasionally spotted a few Eagle Rays gliding by, usually in the mid-morning. After about 15 minutes, we usually head left to a gentle drop-off. This section is shallower, around 10-15m, and we find it’s perfect for slowing down and spotting the smaller stuff – Glass Shrimp tucked into anemones, Fire Gobies darting around, and plenty of nudibranchs if you look closely. Visibility averages a comfortable 23m, so it’s a good spot for a relaxed dive, especially if you enjoy macro life and aren't chasing big pelagics.
