Why dive here
With 558+ marine species recorded in the area - including barracuda, blacktip reef sharks, blue sharks, blue-spotted stingrays and bull sharks - Island Rock offers some of Sodwana Bay's richest reef diving. Water ranges 23-28°C, warmest January, February, March.
Island Rock sits north of Jesser Point, a rocky outcrop that’s easily accessed and usually a gentle dive. It’s a good spot for spotting reef sharks if you’re lucky, sometimes even a grey reef. We often find turtles here, particularly green sea turtles browsing the algae. It’s a nice easy dive, good for newer divers building confidence or those just wanting a relaxed bottom time.
